Te Atatu AFC is a unique club which was established over 50 years ago (Jubilee June - 2009). Many of the people who live here are the original settlers and their families. Te Atatu AFC is a small club which is loyally supported by the local community. Our membership numbers are quite low when compared with other football clubs within West Auckland however we are strong in spirit and like to believe we offer a more friendly and social club Like most clubs we have two separate sub-groups which work both individually and together toward the collective good of the club. We have a senior club which is strong in mens and womens football. Our numbers fluctuate every year but the core base of senior players remain loyal and supportive of our club. Our junior club on average fields up to 15 junior teams, in addition to our approximately 130 midget players each season. We run our own midget league and our 9-17th grade teams play in the United Soccer 1 competition. In addition to the winter league we also offer a summer competition which offers mens, womens and mixed leagues. These leagues cater for a variety of players of all skill levels and ages. We are privileged enough to be the home club of the Te Atatu Warriors. The Warriors are a team of male and females of various ages and abilities. This team was initially set up in 2006 promoting the inclusion of persons with disabilities to be paying members of their local Soccer Club and enabling them to be full participants in a sport they love. There is the opportunity for development of skills and the inclusion into mainstream teams available throughout the club. We also have a lot of fun while learning. We are the only club in Australasia to offer full inclusion to a team as unique as our Warriors and wholeheartedly support both their players and families. Mission We welcome persons with disabilities to participate fully in our club. Vision Creating social opportunities to extend social networks Increase fitness and skills Participate and contribute to the club Inclusion into teams suitable for the individual All people with disabilities are welcome and as paying members are included in all social events within the club. |
