9th Grade 2017 Season
Welcome to Small Whites & Junior Football!
Te Atatu AFC runs a strong Juniors division of the club, competing in Northern Football Federation
(NFF) Competitions. These are mixed grades (boys & girls) up to 17th grade and cater for beginners
through to experts. This year we hope to have a team in the NFF Girls competition too.
Registration occurs in early February using the Online form then pay at the clubrooms or using internet
banking. It is important to register so that you can be placed in a team before the start of the
season. If you have trouble registering please contact me urgently.
Team selection will be in mid- February to allow for pre-season training. This will be done by holding
joint training sessions for the first few weeks. The soccer season runs from 1st April through to the
last week of August so we have 19 weeks of games. There are no games in the middle weekend of the
holidays so we have 22nd April and 16th July off as well as Easter Saturday 15th April. We do play on
Queens Birthday weekend on 3rd June. There is a grading round of about 7 weeks followed by
competition rounds for the rest of the season. 9th Grade plays “7-a-side” which includes a goalkeeper.
The team will usually have up to 3 substitutes so the team is usually 10 players.
Fees for 2017 are $130 for the season, which are due at registration. If you have problems paying this
all at once, please speak to someone at registration to arrange a payment plan so they are paid by 31st
March 2017 at the latest.
The teams games are usually Home one week (Neil Ave) and away the next week. There will be 2
games of 25 minutes played each Saturday. After the first game of 25 minutes there will be a 5 minute
break & the teams start over at 0-0 and play a second game of 25 minutes. The games start at 10am
for 9th grade (usually meeting at 9.30am for warm-up) and finish by 11am. The field is 55m x 35m,
about twice the size of last year’s pitch, played on part of the full sized pitch. The goals are 4m across
by 2m high, the size we used at summer soccer.
Shinpads – These are compulsory (per NFF & FIFA), please make sure they fit comfortably
Shirts – NEW Orange Te Atatu shirts are provided by the club. (including Goalie shirts & gloves)
Shorts & Socks – Royal Blue
Boots – if you can, pick moulded sprigs in case you play on the Artificial Turf at Oratia or Ranui.
Balls – Size 4. The club provides a match ball & some training balls but you may like to have your
own ball for practice at home/school.

Coach – Organises training & team tactics. In recognition of the time & effort put in by coaches they
are offered a full rebate on their child’s fees. Introductory & advanced coaching courses are available.
Manager – assists with team organisation – advising team of games, club notices etc.
Referee – each team must provide a referee for half of their game. You need an adequate knowledge of
the current laws of the game and there are also referee courses available if you’re keen to learn more.
Cheer Squad – All teams love to have enthusiastic and supportive parents!
