Our first newsletter of 2017! Hope everyone has had a restful summer, and itching to get back on the field to play again. This newsletter provides you with news on when to register, when we’re getting back into it, and how you can get involved this year in your player’s sport.

Summer Soccer

Friday evenings from 5pm at the Neil Ave main clubrooms. This is a social soccer session where the players can get out and kick the ball around in a relaxed atmosphere to get back into it and work back up gently to their pre-Christmas fitness levels. New players who would like to give football a go for this season are welcome and it’s free for anyone who wants to.

4 – 17 organised into groups of “like sized kids” and parent run

Bar open:

Some nights there’s a sausage sizzle (we’ll let you know on Facebook) or the kitchen may open

depending on numbers. Great way to get to know other club members. All welcome.

What to wear: Any shorts and t-shirt, sandshoes and shinpads (no football boots please as the ground is still very hard)

Registration for Winter Season

You can come down to summer soccer sessions on Friday night to register for this winter’s season, ask questions or follow the Online Registration link on the club website (www.teatatusoccer.org.nz) and do it all online. The cost for junior players (Grades 9-12) is $130 and youth players (Grades 13 to 17) is $145.

Registrations are open and we ask you to register BEFORE 10th February 2017 so we can be well organized in anticipating how many teams/coaches etc we are likely to require before trials start. The earlier we complete registration, the more smoothly our team mustering process will run.

Fees can be paid online at the time of registration (with no credit card surcharge this year) or choose the Pay Later option and follow up with payment at the clubrooms or using Internet Banking. If you need to request a Payment Arrangement please contact juniors@teatatusoccer.org.nz to discuss this.

Team Selection Trial Dates

We aim to place ALL players in a team that suits their level and we try to maintain team continuity. Player/parent preferences will be accommodated where possible and appropriate so please talk to us.

We aim to have at least two sessions for each age group so we can get a second look at the players. If you cannot make the planned session time (or can only come to one) please let us know so that we can make alternative arrangements.

Please note which fields your session is being held at – either Te Atatu Park, Neil Ave or Ramlea Park, Taikata Rd. All sessions will run for an hour (includes check-in, organization, training exercises, small sided games and pack-down time). Players are requested to please be on time to check in and assist with setup and putting away equipment. Parents or senior players offering to coach are invited to participate in the team selection process, but the final team selection decisions sit with the club committee and Director of Coaching.

Playing Dates

The first games of the season are Saturday 1st April 2017 and runs through to the end of August. There are no games on Saturday 15th April (Easter Saturday), 22nd April and 15th July (middle of school holidays). Please note that games are scheduled for Queens Birthday weekend so your team will be expected to play. If you have a holiday planned for during the season please give your coach plenty of warning so that they can look for substitute players.

Parent Participation

We need you to be involved in your player’s sport. You don’t need to be a football expert to be helpful. This is a vital part of the Club Spirit that makes Te Atatu AFC the friendly, community club.

We need a coach, Manager and Referee for each team. There are a number of training courses available for both Coaches and Referees or we can put you in touch with one of our in-house experts.

There are also a number of jobs to be done for the Juniors side of the club which you may be able to help with.

Fundraising activities throughout the season

Co-ordinate the fixtures schedule for each week, collect results and enter online.

Be a “specialist coach” (eg Goalkeepers, Futsal, referees) or a floating on-call coach

Organise a 2nd Hand gear day where old gear can be brought in & be available for sale

Monitor team registrations and payments
