11th Grade 2017: Season Welcome to 9-a-side Football.

Te Atatu Association Football Club
11th Grade 2017 Season

Welcome to 9-a-side Football.

Te Atatu AFC competes in Northern Football Federation (NFF) Competitions and 11th grade is the first
“Competitive” age group with published results and a Championship title to play for.

Registration occurs in early February using the Online form then pay at the clubrooms or using internet
banking. It is important to register so that you can be placed in a team before the start of the
season. If you have trouble registering please contact me urgently. Continue reading

Team selection will be in mid- February to allow for pre-season training. This will be done by holding
joint training sessions for the first two weeks. The soccer season runs from 1st April through to the
last week of August so we have 19 weeks of games. There are no games in the middle weekend of the
holidays so we have 22nd April and 15th July off and Easter Saturday 15th April. We do play on
Queens Birthday weekend on 3rd June. There is a grading round of about 7 weeks followed by
competition rounds for the rest of the season.

Fees for 2017 are $130 for the season, which are due at registration. If you have problems paying this
all at once, please speak to someone at registration to arrange a payment plan so they are paid by 31st
March 2017 at the latest.

The Junior teams play one week at “home”, which is Ramlea Park, Taikata Rd . Then the next week
they play “away”, usually at other West Auckland Clubs, but can be a bit further afield on the North
Shore or even up to Warkworth. The games start at 10am for 11th grade and either 11am or noon for
12th grade and all finish within 1 hour. Teams usually meet half an hour before kickoff for warm-up.
The field size is ¾ of a full-sized pitch so is usually at a club’s second field and may have limited
facilities. The goals are 5m across by 2m high. The “Retreating Line” that was trialed last year is
played again but is about 20m from the backline rather than the halfway line that it was at 10th grade.

Equipment List
Shinpads – These are compulsory (per NFF & FIFA), please make sure they fit comfortably
Shirts –NEW Orange Te Atatu shirts are provided by the club. (including Goalie shirts & gloves)

Parent Help

are offered a full rebate on their child’s fees. Introductory & advanced coaching courses are available.
Manager – assists with team organisation – advising team of games, club notices etc.

the current laws of the game and there are also referee courses available if you’re keen to learn more.

Registration occurs in early February using the Online form then pay at the clubrooms or using internet

The teams games are usually Home one week (Neil Ave) and away the next week. There will be 2
games of 25 minutes played each Saturday. After the first game of 25 minutes there will be a 5 minute
break & the teams start over at 0-0 and play a second game of 25 minutes. The games start at 10am
for 9th grade (usually meeting at 9.30am for warm-up) and finish by 11am. The field is 55m x 35m,
about twice the size of last year’s pitch, played on part of the full sized pitch. The goals are 4m across
by 2m high, the size we used at summer soccer.

8th Grade Western Junior Framework (WJF) OPTION

Our 8th Graders have the option of playing in a set team all year and participating in the Northern Football Federation Western Junior Framework (WJF) OR continuing with the locally run Midgets Fun Football sessions. Participating in the framework means;

Training may be on a different night at Ramlea Park

As you are in a team, it is important that you attend every game session as your team needs you! (unless sick of course, or prearranged with your coach) – more commitment is required as there are only 3 weekends when the teams don’t play. You also play on rainy days when the in-house Midgets may be cancelled

Games will be on Saturday mornings at 8.30am (arrive by 8.15am) at another club’s ground and finish about 9.30am. It will be the same ground each week and hosted by another of our nearby West Auckland clubs (yet to be determined).

Your child’s team will play against teams from other clubs each week (3 short games each week)

It still remains non competitive football (there are no division winners) but we do record the scores

There is a grading round and a post grading round. The purpose of grading is to ensure teams of varying abilities play against others of a similar standard – more fun for all involved.

Last year we sent four 8th grade teams to the Western Junior Framework and all reported a huge amount of enjoyment and learning.

These teams will need to be organized before the start of the regular Midgets season, so a team muster session will be held at Neil Ave Clubrooms on Wednesday 1st and 8th March from 4.30pm til 5.30pm.

Teams may choose to start training to prepare for their season and learn the format rules before the normal April timeline – dependent on parent coach availability.

We will contact all registered 8th grade players to remind them of these sessions so please register by Thursday 23rd February if you would like to choose the WJF teams option.

You can come down to summer soccer sessions on Friday night to register for this winter’s season, ask questions or follow the Online Registration link on the club website (www.teatatusoccer.org.nz) and do it all online. The cost for junior players (Grades 9-12) is $130 and youth players (Grades 13 to 17) is $145.

Registrations are open and we ask you to register BEFORE 10th February 2017 so we can be well organized in anticipating how many teams/coaches etc we are likely to require before trials start. The earlier we complete registration, the more smoothly our team mustering process will run.

Fees can be paid online at the time of registration (with no credit card surcharge this year) or choose the Pay Later option and follow up with payment at the clubrooms or using Internet Banking. If you need to request a Payment Arrangement please contact juniors@teatatusoccer.org.nz to discuss this.

Team Selection Trial Dates

We aim to place ALL players in a team that suits their level and we try to maintain team continuity. Player/parent preferences will be accommodated where possible and appropriate so please talk to us.

We aim to have at least two sessions for each age group so we can get a second look at the players. If you cannot make the planned session time (or can only come to one) please let us know so that we can make alternative arrangements.

Please note which fields your session is being held at – either Te Atatu Park, Neil Ave or Ramlea Park, Taikata Rd. All sessions will run for an hour (includes check-in, organization, training exercises, small sided games and pack-down time). Players are requested to please be on time to check in and assist with setup and putting away equipment. Parents or senior players offering to coach are invited to participate in the team selection process, but the final team selection decisions sit with the club committee and Director of Coaching.

We need you to be involved in your player’s sport. You don’t need to be a football expert to be helpful. This is a vital part of the Club Spirit that makes Te Atatu AFC the friendly, community club.

We need a coach, Manager and Referee for each team. There are a number of training courses available for both Coaches and Referees or we can put you in touch with one of our in-house experts.

There are also a number of jobs to be done for the Juniors side of the club which you may be able to help with.

Facebook articles, photos and newsletters

Fundraising activities throughout the season

Co-ordinate the fixtures schedule for each week, collect results and enter online.

Be a “specialist coach” (eg Goalkeepers, Futsal, referees) or a floating on-call coach

Organise a 2nd Hand gear day where old gear can be brought in & be available for sale

Monitor team registrations and payments

Please email juniors@teatatusoccer.org.nz to register your willingness to help, or message us on our Facebook site. Search for Te Atatu Football Club, Midgets and Juniors.
